What to look for in a good mini projector
- Lumens vs reality. A listing bragging about 8000 'LED lumens' for $40 is measuring something that isn't brightness, real output on a decent unit is closer to 300 to 600 ANSI lumens.
- Cooling and fan noise. Corners get cut on the heat sink first, so a $40 projector runs a tiny plastic fan flat out and still overheats, while a sturdier build stays quiet and doesn't shut itself down mid-movie.
- Native resolution. 'Supports 1080p' just means it can accept that signal, check for native resolution, because a lot of budget units are actually displaying 480p no matter what you feed them.
