What to look for in a good refrigerator bulb
- Base size. Check the base code, usually E12 candelabra or E17 intermediate, and match it exactly, because a bulb that screws in but doesn't seat right will flicker or short out from moisture.
- Appliance rating. Look for a bulb marked as rated for appliance use, not just a standard household bulb, since it needs to handle both the cold box and heat from the compressor without the glass clouding or the filament failing early.
- Glass and shape. A true A15 shape with thicker glass shrugs off condensation and door impacts better than the thin, oversized bulbs some knockoffs ship in a generic sleeve.
- Price as a signal. Verified sellers for this bulb tend to run $5 to $16, and anything priced well under that low end is usually where the corner-cutting shows up first.
